The Future of Us:
How we can resist the robots in pursuit of connection, meaning and joy
Loneliness is an epidemic that threatens us all. Over half of Americans report experiencing pervasive loneliness, which is linked with many health issues including depression, anxiety, and an increased risk of heart disease and dementia. It’s even shortening our lives: people who are lonely are 35% more likely to die earlier than their more connected peers. Within a culture that is increasingly obsessed with technology and the hustle, the future can look quite lonely. But it doesn’t have to be.
As the Executive Director of CohoUS, a national nonprofit creating a more cooperative and connected society, Trish has witnessed and supported hundreds of communities in building the villages of the future. She’s the founder of two intentional communities, a Tedx speaker and has dedicated two decades to facilitating connection and growth among groups. She believes that collective housing is poised to be among the signature movements of our time.
Audience members will leave with an understanding of the principles of cohousing, and how those principles can be applied to transform the spaces where they live, work and play into hives of connection and joy. They will realize that any gathering is an opportunity for building community and cultivating meaning. Perfect for any group with a shared purpose, this keynote will educate and inspire audiences to create radical change in pursuit of human connection.
